Watery Wednesday

I was sitting in my car on the beach south of Port Aransas watching, and photographing some shorebirds.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw two women walking towards me and knew the shorebirds would soon be scattering. The ladies were obviously in deep conversation. When I looked at them I was immediately struck by the contrast in their clothing. The one lady has a sleeveless t-shirt and shorts on, as opposed to the lady with a sweatshirt and longer pants. Also one has a purse and one doesn't. What I didn't notice at the time, and the photo makes apparent, is that they aren't walking in step with each other. I shot the photo just because the opportunity arose, but when I looked at it later, I really liked the contrast of the gray overcast skies, the gray Gulf of Mexico waves, and their colorful clothing.

I like photographing people walking on the beach, I just don't have too many opportunities to do so. This is fabulous.

That is an interesting contrast. Funny what we notice sometimes, isn't it? :-)

Sweet shot. They do brighten up the day, don't they?

I like the contrast too. That really was a gray day.

If I didn't know this was the Gulf of Mexico I'd say it looked cold out there. But it doesn't get cold along the Gulf Coast... does it?

Could be just the mood of the shot, which is awesome.

Mojo: If I recall correctly, the temps were in the low/mid 60's that day. The breeze off the Gulf was coolish and I shivered everytime I got out of the car. It was foggy/misty and gray all day.

I bet the lady in sweatshirt and pants carrying a purse is a visitor! :)
Love the contrasts as you mentioned.

very nice contrast catch! it's funny how 'cold' to some is not to others!

Interesting observations. I love it when I notice something AFTER I've taken a shot. ;-)

It looks like a very brisk and brezzy day at the beach. Maybe it will bring in some wonderful shells:)

People are fun subjects to photograph, especially when you get home and have a chance to see what you captured. Interesting observations on these two ladies. I too loved their colorful clothing against that background. Great shot!
