That's My World!---Wildwood Lake

One of my favorite lakes to visit is Wildwood Lake. It's north of Lincoln, and just south of the town of Valparaiso.

It's a wonderful place to sit and watch ducks and geese during the spring and fall migration. It's also a wonderful place to see songbirds.

The range of the Eastern and Spotted Towhee overlaps in this area. I have been fortunate enough to see and photograph each at Wildwood Lake.

Hi koala, thanks for stopping by. I have a Canon digital SLR. I used a 100-300 lens to capture these photos. I recently bought a 100-400 and am enjoying the ability to get in a little closer with it.

Your photos are lovely! So interesting that the two towhees overlap there. You are very knowledgeable about birds of your area.

I don;t think I've ever seen a towhee before. Wildwood Lake looks like a great place for birding, hiking and taking photos.

I went to Wildwood with my husband and yellow lab in January. I guess it was too early for birds. I took lots of pics, though. I'll have to go with them now that the birds are back.

Great pics!

I am so jelous! Those towhees are Awesome! I've NEVER been able to get a good shot of one!
VERY WELL DONE!!

I see that you are using a 100-400 lens....are you using it handheld...or on a tripod? I've got 70-300 which I use handheld but I wasn't sure if the 400 would be too heavy to use handheld or not.
