Today's Flowers

Friday afternoon when I was coming home from Squaw Creek NWR I decided to take a detour from the interstate and visit Indian Cave State Park in southeast Nebraska. It’s been years since I was in the park and I wanted to see if it was worth a specific trip to spend a day there. My conclusion was a definite yes. My time was limited so I didn’t take many photos. One of the photos I did take was of these Dutchmen’s Breeches.

Saturday I did my weekly visit to Maxwell Arboretum. Love this pink Magnolia

And these Virginia Bluebells

Those of you who have visited previously may have noticed that I have done some “remodeling”. I have long felt constrained by the small photos that the old template allowed for. However, this morning I wondered if the larger photos make the blog load slowly for those on dial-up. Anyone that has an opinion can feel free to weigh in on the subject in the comments. If it makes it too slow, I'll see what I can do to adjust accordingly.

See other flowers from around the world

Very lovely flowers! I like the Dutchmen's Breeches! It must remind people of the Dutch national costumes long ago. This a rare and precious flower! Thanks for sharing.

I love all of these. The Dutchman's Breeches are such a unique flower, lovely color on the magnolia, and the Virginia Bluebells are one of my favorites. Great photos!

The pink magnolia took me to my mother's garden when I was a child. Beautiful!

Thanks for visiting.

Hope you have a nice week.

The Dutchmen's Breeches are quite extraordinary...and the magnolia is just stunning.
The Virginia bluebells look so totally different from the ones in the UK - the only thing they seem to share is the name.

Your magnolias are still in bloom? Ours (in the Botanical Garden) are gone now. P.S. I do not have a problem loading. Works pretty good for me.

Lovely shots! I love the name of the Dutchman's breeches. They do look like little pants. :-D

I especially love the pink magnolia, perhaps because I suspect they are not hardy where I live. ;-)

I have enjoyed your flowers so much, absolutely stunning. Thank you so much for sharing them with Today's Flowers. The larger photos are very nice. I am on cable so load-up time isn't a problem. On my blog I have a small photo template with the option to enlarge, but have to say it is nice coming into a blog with larger photographs.
