Camera Critters--First Butterfly of the Year

I said the Muskrat photo was the last of the photos from Squaw Creek NWR. I had forgotten about the first butterfly of the year. There was also a Zebra Swallowtail flitting about in the area. They are stunningly beautiful, but they don't light very long and I only managed one very lousy photo of it.

So the first (and only, so far) butterfly photographed this spring is a Spring Azure.

This is lovely! My camera always seems to be in another room when I see a butterfly!

He's beautiful. I've seen a few but I haven't managed to have the camera ready for a photograph. Great catch.

What a beautiful butterfly! Great shot. My girls think it looks like a butterfly fairy. Thanks so much for identifying the flower on my post today. I looked it up on wikipedia and I'm sure it is a pasqueflower. Did you know it's toxic! I guess I better not eat any.

Kayleen: You get a neat butterfly, all I've seen are cabbage whites.

Gorgeous photo! Lucky you, for capturing one with your camera! I don't have a butterfly pic yet, hopefully soon.

I'm always so excited to see these little butterflies again in the spring. I haven't seen any yet, but it should be soon.
